The first European vessel to reach America's West Coast
The Maritime Museum of San Diego is building a full-sized, fully functional, and historically accurate replica of Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo’s flagship,
San Salvador.

Steve Cross traveled to the San Diego Maritime Museum to consult on the project.  At his sawmill in Iron City, Georgia, he is milling over 100 tons of Florida live oak for the construction of the ship, a massive endeavor.
